Compelled to Blog

I'm not sure what to blog about tonight, but feel compelled to put something up here.

I contracted my first story as editor of The Wild Rose Press. It is a Rosebud (5,000 - 20,000 words) Holiday story in the Cactus Rose line. It took a lot of back and forth to get the historical elements right and help the author bring out more of the emotions, but I'm happy and she is too.

That's a great feeling to help someone succeed with a story. I'm also working closely with another writer on a novel length submission to the Cactus Rose line. I really like her Characters and premise, and we are working at making her writing tighter.

I entered the NRCA (National Reader Choice Awards) today. I put my book "Marshal in Petticoats" in the historical and first book categories. I've had such wonderful comments from the people who've read it, I figured might as well give it a try.

What have you been up to in the writing arena that wasn't actually writing your own stuff?

Yay on the contracted work!

Hmmm...writing stuff that's not writing. I've been doing some critiquing and lots of reading.
