Pumped Over Covers

I received my third cover for the Halsey Brother (Petticoat) series and I am giddy with the way they look together. What a great looking series these books are! Nicola Martinez, the cover artist at The Wild Rose Press, cares so much about how the covers look and does an awesome job with them.

The photos on the covers have all been taken by myself or my daughter. I just passed a few along to Nic and she came up with these great covers.

Production has been slow and though I had anticipated Outlaw in Petticoats would be out in e-book by now- it hasn't happened. I wait every day for an e-mail with the release date. And I can tell you, though I have the cover for the third book Miner in Petticoats, my editor has said it won't be out until either next fall or Jan. 2009. Because she wants to slip the Spirit trilogy books in between the Halsey brother books. So, I should have a cover for Spirit of the Mountain coming out soon.

Is part of your reason for picking up a new author the cover of the book? If so, what attracts you?

Wow, Paty! Great covers! I love them. They look so awesome side by side! I can't wait to read the next Halsey Bro. books. Congrats on the Spirit trilogy as well. You're rocking the house girl!

I'm definitely a "cover whore" when it comes to choosing books. At least that's the first thing that grabs me. But then I read the blurb and the excerpt--and if I get a good "vibe" from it, I'll buy the book.

But the cover is usually what catches my eyes, that and a catchy title!
