What's on the Page?

Every writer needs to "go to the well" now and than and I did over the weekend. I attended a writers conference in Shreveport,Louisiana hosted by the NOLA RWA chapter. they definitely showed their southern hospitality, from the conference coordinators, presenters, participants, editor and agents, the hotel staff, and even the people I passed in Wall Mart when I had to purchase socks because I forgot to pack mine! I am putting Shreveport on my to see again list with my husband.

When I wasn't attending or giving a workshop I visited with many wonderful people. I met two other Wild Rose Press authors- Dyann Love Barr and Claire Ashgrove. We visited the last evening with Johanna Raisanen of Harlequin and Helen Breitweiser of Cornerstone Literary Agency talking about pets, specifically dogs and cats.

Earlier in the day I attended Helen's chat with, Kassy Paris's "Recipe for Creating Critique Groups" and Weronika Janczuk's(of D4EO Literary Agency)"Post-Agent:The Submission Process Explained". I also met with all three of the agents at the conference and they all requested my jungle book.

A dozen participants hung out with me for my workshop. We had chocolate, learned about men, and had a good time.

The weekend not only reinvigorated my writing but it also gave me more friends. Virginia McCullough and Sheila Goss who I sat next to at the book signing and Liz Talley, NOLA president, a warm and delightful young woman and presenter of "Pass me a Tissue- How to add Emotion to Your Work" and the ultimate southern lady and best selling author Lenora Worth. These two ladies introduced me to King Cake, cupcake balls, and muffuletta(a sandwich on a sesame bread with pesto and ham). Also Winnie Griggs the conference chair and many other wonderful ladies and gentlemen.

Thank you all for a wonderful weekend!

(As usual I didn't think to take my camera out and get pictures)

Jeez, now I'm hungry for things I can't get here. lol

I total understand needing to "go to the well", to get out and have conversations with other writers who can understand the joys as well as the stresses of writing. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
