Friday Farm Fun- At the Beach!

I returned from a writer's retreat at the beach. One of my writer friends has a house and she and another writer friend and I hunkered in while it rained and the wind wailed and wrote like fiends. I finished a short story and they both made considerable progress on the projects they were working on.

There was one small patch of time when the rain stopped. One friend and I took that moment to walk to the beach. We were told it was an 8 minute walk and we'd find a flight of stairs to carry us down to the beach. We walked for 45 minutes seeing some wonderful old and new houses before we stumbled upon the stairway to the beach.

At the top of the stairway I looked down and discovered a dead giant on the beach.

We walked to a small bit of tide pools and scavenged the rocks for tiny shells and interesting ocean life. When the drizzle became more pronounced we headed back to our warm dry sanctuary to write once more.

Have you ever witnessed something in nature that released your imagination?

Many times.

The dead drift wood giant is a great imagination release though, for sure.

Fun retreat. Wish it could have been one more day...

I agree! It could have been a couple more days for me and I would have been happy.

What a wonderful retreat with friends. Looks like a great beach house. I will be at the Seal Rock area in about two weeks with my husband and another couple. She paints which I sometimes do also but I enjoy watching what she paints either way. I don't tend to write much in those situations but it might be the husbands ;) The house we are renting we've had before and it is above tidal pools and a private cove which makes it great for beach time-- unless it's storming too much and the tide is too high. Either way just watching the ocean is worth the trip

Hi Rain,
We didn't stay int he house in the photo. I just like the quaintness of it with the cellar doors and rain barrel. I enjoy the retreats because there is nothing more energizing than having a group of writers clicking keyboards and stopping now and then to brainstorm and talk shop.

Have fun at Seal Rock!
