death to a spirit

A streak of light shoots to the left. It balls into a beautiful, glowing orb which fades. The streak zags to the right, again rolling into a twinkling orb. The light shoots skyward, the orb glows, explodes, and a shrill whistle pierces the air as ashes fall to the ground, hissing, and grow cold.

It's funny how things you've seen before spark (no pun intended) your imagination.

After working long hours on Monday, my husband and I took showers and climbed into the pickup to watch the fireworks in town. Sitting there watching one that wasn't put on by the town but from someone's yard or a parking lot somewhere, I immediately thought of my evil spirit. Not that it made me think bad things, but that the fireworks looked like something trying to get away and then before it did, exploded. Which in turn made me think of my scene where the dark spirit is brought to his demise by the heroines love of the hero. While the dark spirit is in the hero's body the heroine bestows upon him her innocent love. Thereby killing him.
