Friday Five - Things that kept me up last night

Do you have times when there is so much on your mind you can't sleep? Or you are sleeping just fine and you wake up and all the things you need to do pop into your head? Or sometimes in my case the story I'm working on pops into my head and I can't go back to sleep until I jot down the things circling like vultures in there.

Well, last night was one of those nights where things wouldn't let me sleep. Here's a list of five of them.

1. The first thing that popped into my head was the fact I won't be back from Kodiak very long before the Celebration of Literacy event I'm attending in February. So I was thinking of what I needed to do while I was gone.

2. Which brought me to the talk I'm giving with another writer the end of February and what I need to get done for that.

3. Which led me to the EPICon I'm attending in early March and the presentation I have to get put together for that.

4. Which led me to- if I'm picked for the EPPIE award who would I mention.

5. Which led me to the story I'm working on now and how the heck am I going to get this story to the black moment I've plotted from the spot I'm at now!

And I tossed and turned for over an hour knowing I needed to get to sleep since I have a red-eye flight tonight and won't get much sleep before having to take on two rambunctious toddlers!

So what keeps you up at night? Or are you one of those people who can sleep no matter what is happening in your life.

You poor thing, Paty!

I feel for you. This week I couldn't sleep for three nights in a row and I lay there thinking through so much crap that didn't need to be running through my head! I just about lost my mind yesterday because I was so tired; luckily, I finally slept last night. Whew!

Maybe it's the weather or something that's got Oregon people all worked up and not able to rest.?? Who knows! My kids said they've been having trouble sleeping, my mom has too. This has been a weird, sleep-deprived week for some reason. Maybe you can escape it up in Alaska. :)

You also have a lot on your proverbial plate. Maybe you couldn't sleep because of "something in the air", and then you started to contemplate the myriad of things you've got to do soon. Maybe it's the tornado, or maybe it's aliens. LOL (kidding!)

Be safe and well on your trip to Kodiak and have fun with your grandbabies!

I'll miss you!!

Writing keeps me up a lot at night -- either fretting because I haven't done enough, or turning over a plot point in my brain until I want to scream (but still can't stop).

I'm also a worry wart, so waking in the middle of the night leaves me with all sorts of worries, everything from the state of our nation, to the state of my finances, to wondering if my elderly parents are all right, to worrying about my kids, my dog, the cat, etc.

Which basically means Tylenol PM and I are on a first-name basis some weeks! *G*

Ahh, it's so nice to know I'm not alone! LOL

Thanks for stopping by, Piper! It has been a weird winter. My dh has been waking up and having trouble going back to sleep too. Not sure if it's because we have so much going on, or there are aliens out there messing with us! LOL Hope you get more sleep.

Hey, Nic! Gee, I never would have guessed you wake up worrying! ;) And I can believe the writing. You really need to get that puppy finished! I'm pulling for you! Thanks for stopping by!
