What a weekend!

Friday and Saturday were a whirlwind of activity.

Friday, I set up in front of Betty's Books in downtown Baker city at 8:30 am and chatted with people wandering by. I sold a few books and had people walking away with bookmarks. My daughter and her two girls came by and visited then headed back home so my daughter could leave the girls with their dad and she and I could go through the Heritage museum and a quilt show.

The people and director at the Heritage museum were wonderful. Joan Jacobs, the director, dug into the back storage room to find a petticoat for me to use as a prop while staging photos for my next two Halsey brother book covers. And my daughter chatted with an older woman who was there with a bus tour. Then we hit the quilt show and entertained some ladies who always seemed to be standing by us when we disagreed on the coloring of a quilt. Either I liked the colors and my daughter didn't or she liked the colors and I didn't. LOL

I also touched base with half of a writing team whose brains I've picked via the internet on train travel in the 1800's. They were promoting their latest book at a signing at the library. Images of Rail- Sumpter Valley Railway by Alfred Mullett and Leonard Merritt.

That night we watched one of my daughter's favorite movies Kate and Leopold.

Saturday, I set up again in front of Betty's books. Visited with more people and watched the parade and my granddaughter's scramble for candy. My son-in-law took the girls to his parents after the parade and my daughter hung out with me until one. Then we went to the Geiser Grand Hotel and had a wonderful lunch.

After lunch, I traded books with Len Merrit - mine for their railroad book, browsed the used book sale at the library, visited with the Writers Guild of Eastern Oregon and a publisher from the area, Black Lyon Publishing. Then we gathered up Tink and my daughter's things and headed to John Day where I dropped her off at her inlaws and Tink and I headed home.

My husband was at Princeton so I spent Sunday catching up on questions to guest bloggers, writing my blogs for this week (I'll be at Mid-Willamette Valley blog today, Wild Rose Press Cactus blog on Tuesday, and Seduced by History on Friday) and catching up on other friend's blogs.

How was your weekend?

Wow, you've been busy! I took a long weekend off and rode on my husband's Harley to Red River, New Mexico. Beautiful scenery!

That was quite a weekend! Ours was spent getting ready for a grad party we are hosting for my nephew this coming weekend. Cleaning, weeding, new screen door, some painting...etc. Got absolutely NO writing done...bummer.

Have a great week!

Sounds like fun, Helen!

Lauri, we need to re-stain our house, but we are never home on a weekend that we aren't farming. Have fun at the grad party!
