Reader's Luncheon

I was planning to start a new thing on Mondays, then I received photos of the Reader's Luncheon and I didn't want to keep the photos and info until Friday!

Lindy Jacobs and Julie Drey writers from my COWG writing group attended the Rose City Romance Writer's Reader's Luncheon with me in Portland on Saturday. We left Central Oregon at 6 am and arrived at the Governor Hotel after a few circles around the block and ran a red light. Julie and Lindy both were squeaking when I missed a red light, I was so intent on finding the right street name.

The ballroom at the hotel was beautiful and there were over 200 people attending the event. Author Jane Porter was the keynote speaker. Her speech was very inspirational.

I was paired up with author Mary Vine. Talking about our books we realized we have much in common. My Halsey brother series is set in the same area as her contemporary book. And her book deals with the gold as well. She also lives part of the time in that area and my daughter lives there. And we were both at the Miner's Jubilee in Baker City last summer and never met.

The readers at our table were fun. One had an Ipad and while I was telling her about one of my books she downloaded it and added it to her book shelf! What a fun thing to watch!

As usual, I reconnected with several authors I only see at this event. And there were several there from my RWA chapter. Terry McLaughlin, Elisabeth Naughton, Christine Young, and Genene Valleau.

The drive home was uneventful other than my dh called me when I was about an hour from home and wanted to know when I'd be there. We'd been invited to dinner by his mom, and we had to feed the cows. So I drove straight to the barn, climbed onto the tractor in my skirt and drove the tractor so he could feed, from the trailer then we jumped back in my car and headed to his mom's.

Needless to say, by the end of the day I was beat!!

How was your weekend?

You're a warrior, tractoring in your skirt.

Glad you had a good time at the luncheon. It looks like fun.

I think I did the same thing in Portland when I was there in October. At least, there wasn't traffic.

Paty sounds like your trip home was like mine we drove back from the conference to Idaho and when I got home my husband, daughter and I went to my sons football drills because it was such a beautiful evening. Well, five minutes after we got there he broke his leg : ( needless to say we were in the hospital until 10:30.

Paty just wanted you to know I started reading Perfectly Good Nanny on my iPad yesterday (yep it's me from the conference) I am at 37% and can't put it down. Thanks for the recommendation. Can't wait to read more of your books.

MiQuelle,

Sorry to hear about your son. I'm sure as resilient as children are he's probably milking the injury with you and the girls and telling his friends he wishes he could play. LOL

Thank you for the comment about my book. Enjoy!
