Monday Mulligan Stew

Company is slowly leaving.

It's a quick writing lesson today.

I always have trouble with past and passed. This is a note I keep by my computer.

Passed/Past

If you are referring to a period of time before or a distance, use "past":"the team performed well in the past," "the police car drove past the suspect's house." IF you are referring to the action of passing, however, you need to use "passed": "when John passed the gravy, he spilled it on his lap." "the teacher was astonished that none of the students passed the test." Remember that no matter however you have "passed the time" you never "past the time." not even in the distant past.

THANK YOU to everyone who followed me faithfully on my tour. I'll post the winner(s)- Yes winners tomorrow. And look for my promotional blog contest in August. (It wont' be so long)

Hope you had a wonderful weekend! Family is wonderful, and much appreciated the minute they leave.

Paty, Hope the weekend was fun. I had a blast on the blog tour. Have gone several times today to Word Wranglers but haven't been able to find your post Ah well, I hit all but that one :)

LOL! Good reminder about word use, Paty--as an editor, I appreciate those differences!

Nancy, I did have a great weekend. Full of family, just exhausting. We stayed up way to late every night!

Ann, yeah, Not sure what's up with Word Wranglers but you know, it was a fast, furious, and fun tour. I hope you join the one in August. It will be shorter but just as fun.

Thanks, flchen1.
