Monday Mulligan Stew

Closing in on the holiday one day at a time. Only my hubby to shop for and goodies to make for neighbors and friends. The tree is almost complete. We baked the gingerbread people yesterday and will decorate them today.

Snowy weather has given the world a Christmasy feel.

Writing has been slow to nil with having company. Now I know why I waited until my children were in high school to write seriously. It is hard to concentrate with the chaos of little ones and you're exhausted at night. We've been going to bed an hour earlier than usual. Our grandchildren who are visiting are early risers. 5:30!

I have a shadow any time I'm in the kitchen. The littlest one who is almost three, grabs a stool and stands beside me to "help" cook. She's so full of questions it makes my head spin. LOL And has made me realize I might just need to ask more questions of myself and my characters as I'm writing. By all the questions she asks she makes me dig deeper to explain things.

Who knew I could learn something about writing from an almost three year old?

What have you learned lately?

I'm hoping the roads clear up.

I've had a hankering for gingerbread. Sounds like you're having fun.

I learned knight's armor - when at the Met a few weeks back - was often decorative as well as functional. Well, depending who you were a champion for. The higher ranked your sponsor, the more elaborate the armor and decoration. Still, it's not something I'd ever want to where.

Hey Paty,

First I would like to say I think it is awesome that you are donating toys to a foster care program.

I am waiting also for your new book Bridled Heart to come out in 2011 and so want to get the "Perfectly Good Nanny" soon.

Mary, I'm surprised you haven't figured out a way to work the armor into your stories.

Hi Terra,

Thank you for participating. I'd love to donate lots of toys so I'm hoping more people will participate.

You never know, if you're one of my winners you could receive a copy of one of the books!

Thank you for participating.

That is so sweet. I love baking with my grandchildren. So much fun. Enjoy your time with them. The serious writing will come later.

Dang, I forgot the title.

Spirit Of the Mountain. And God bless you for giving to Angels.

I think giving is one of the greatest joys of my life. I've been making quilts and giving them away. I love those big smiles and never turn down a hug. I'd rather give than receive any time. You will be blessed for your kindness.

I think the minds of children are such a joy...they are so fresh and free to express their opinions. Too bad we adults lost this along the way.

Happy holidays to you and yours. :)

Even though writing has been nil, it sounds like you are having a wonderful holiday season...Other than the 5:30 AM...

What I've learned...never quit believing--in Santa or yourself.

Happy Holidays!

I learned how to write from a blind character's POV convincingly by reading your wonderful book, "Doctor in Petticoats."

Three of my own grandkids are coming the week before Christmas for a week-long stay with us, sans Mommy and Daddy. I'm taking a week off from writing to have other kinds of fun! LOL

Hi Sarah!

I'm always happy to be of help. Aren't grandkids fun!

Kids can drive you crazy with their questions but they also give you a different perspective on things. For your Toys for Tots program--Doctor in Petticoats.
