Flying Trip

Last Friday I headed to Baker City to spend the night with my daughter and her family before heading to my home town of Enterprise for my niece's bridal shower. We had fun playing the usual make a wedding dress on a model out of toilet paper. My Granddaughter's team(she was the model)won. She made a very cute 7 year old bride. She also won the Bride game played like Bingo. As the bride opened her presents we had to cross off the name of the gift on a BRIDE card. Needless to say, the car smelled so good from the lotion, hand wash, and sanitizer she won that poor Tink, who was sharing the back seat with Tiffiney, was sneezing!
Sunday morning we woke early and hit the road at 7 a.m. to drive to the Nez Perce National Historical Park in Lapwai, ID. The museum, while interesting and the park ranger who attended the front desk was very informative, I only came away with brochures and a book. Not the information I really was hoping to find. From there we followed the map and walked through the remains of the Spaulding mission. The first mission in the Nez Perce territory.

Then we headed back to Lewiston and on down to Pendleton to see the Let'r Buck Statue at the Pendleton Round Up Rodeo grounds. My brother worked with the artist who sculpted the statue, making the molds, welding the pieces together, fine tuning the sculpture, doing the patina, and finally setting it up at the rodeo grounds. I'd had the fortune to see the piece in various stages so it was fun to see it finished and in it's rightful place.
After Pendleton we headed back to Baker City. I spent the night and drove home on Monday. That was my whirlwind weekend. And it seemed to do the trick for my creativity- I've put out a huge amount of words this week on the WIP.

Have you ever made a quick trip for a reason other than family? Just to garner information or

a quick getaway? If so where did you go?

When we make a quick trip, it is usually to the beach. We love it there and it's just an hour away. Although when Arlo's parents were alive many of our quick trips were to Bend.

My husband and I have always done quick three day weekends two or three times a year since we've been married. It started in Ohio where we'd pick a park to camp and hike or, if we were feeling extra flush, a resort weekend. Our last three day trip was over President's Day holiday and we went three hours north to Gold Beach, OR. Though I live on the coast in California, we still think the Oregon Coast is the bomb.

Sounds like an awesome trip! Such fun! Our quick getaways are usually up north to our property there. Next month we are headed to Colorado.

Happy Mother's Day!

Wow, Paty! That really was a whirlwind weekend. I made a weekend trip to Idaho years ago for research on a book. However, that was before I had a herd of doggies at home. So I rarely do overnight trips any more. Glad your trip sparked your creativity!
