Monday Mystery - TV Mysteries

Don't forget to check the blog tour schedule int he side bar and follow me to win prizes!

Today we'll talk about some of the my favorite mystery shows on television: I remember as a youth being glued to the television to watch "The Avengers". Mrs. Peel (Diana Rigg) was who I wanted to grow up and  be. She was so competent and smart. Patrick McNee was a dapper British agent with smart and sophisticated women helping him.

Other great mystery shows were:
"Baretta" 1975-1978 with Robert Blake and Fred the cockatoo.

"Barnaby Jones" 1973- 1980 starred Buddy Ebsen and Lee Meriweather were private detectives.

"Remington Steele" 1982-1987 with Pierce Brosnan and Stephanie Zimbalist. Laura Holt, Stephanie's character is a private detective who makes up a male figurehead for her company. When a con artist pretends to me Remington Steele she finds him helpful but she's not crazy about him taking over.

"Mod Squad" 1968-1973 with actors Michael Cole, Peggy Lipton, Clarence Williams as hip crime fighting police.

"Perry Mason" started out as detective fiction by Erle Stanley Gardner and was a highly acclaimed detective show from 1957 - 1966 and was resurrected in 1973-74 with Monte Markham and Brett Somers.

"The Man from U.N.C.L.E." ran from 1966-1968 with  Robert Vaughn and David McCallum for a secret international espionage and law-enforcement agency.

"Mission: Impossible" 1966-1973 with Peter Graves, Barbara Bain, and Greg Morris as an elite unit who carry out covert operations.

"Hart to Hart" from 1979-1984 Robert Wagner and Stefanie Powers are a millionaire couple who become amateur sleuths.

"McCloud"  1970-1977  A rural county sheriff, Dennis Weaver, move to the big city and works for a large police department.

"McMillan and Wife"  1971-1977 Rock Hudson was a 40ish police commissioner in San Franscisco  and Susan Saint James was his twenty something wife.

"Murder She Wrote" 1984-1996 had Angela Lansbury as a mystery novelist who worked as an amateur detective.

And several of today's that are my favorites:
"Castle" with Nathan Fillion as an author of murder mysteries and Stana Katic as Detective Kate Beckett.

"NCIS" With Mark Harmon, Michael Weatherly, Sean Murray, Pauley Perrette, David McCallum and Cote de Pablo.

What is your favorite television mystery show past and present?

I'm watching reruns of Murder She Wrote on our TV down here in NZ. I also like some of the English mystery series: Miss Marple, Hercule Poirot, Midsommer Murders and Lewis. Oh, and New Tricks. I really like that one.

Becky, You're making me feel old! LOL I've watched all that I mentioned.

Elaine, I'll have to wrestle the remote control away from my hubby. He always clicks right on past Midsommer murders.
