Wednesday Guest- SamMarie Ashe

Paty, thank you so much for having me as a guest on your blog today, I am so glad to be here! Instead of my rambling random thoughts from my own blog, I asked Paty for a couple questions… and she happily obliged!

Bio:
The short story is that I’m interested in writing, cats, writing, movies, writing, music, and writing, and not necessarily in that order. Authors have to love writing or it’s just not fun!

I’m a member of the national chapter of Romance Writer's of America, Rose City Romance Writers, Greater Seattle Romance Writers of America, and Peninsula Romance Writers of America. I am also a member of Willamette Writers based in Portland, Oregon. I live just across the Columbia River in beautiful Vancouver, Washington.

I am a former Corporate Presenter and Trainer for the semiconductor industry, managing a very busy sales agency. I have long been interested in writing and wished to have the time to just... write. With the downturn in the economy, that opportunity came sooner than expected. I have studied numerous types of writing: novels, short stories, poetry, business writing, newsletters... plus I’m a voracious reader ever since I was old enough to turn the pages on my own. Long ago I discovered a love for story telling and an affinity for the happy ending, and gravitated to romances. I now spend my time herding cats and writing romantic whimsy.

What drew you to writing paranormal romance?
I have always liked the ability to bend reality with words. Blending romance and fantasy with creatures and realms that exist only in my imagination is a lot of fun! I have a wild imagination and like to indulge it quite frequently, making up not only regular contemporary towns and locations, but immortal characters that exist well beyond our mortal capabilities. I love to read all types of paranormal romance, from the darkest-dark to the sweetest-light, and will readily admit that my stories lean heavily towards the latter - they are sweet and light. Bringing new creatures, cultures, and universes into existence through words is a wonderful feeling. When readers can lose themselves in the story and say “Yes, I believe that can happen!” then I know I have succeeded in making that paranormal world come to life.

Tell us about A.N.G.E.L.
The A.N.G.E.L. stories are a series that birthed from a what-if I had one day: What if the world’s population was exploding so fast that those beings that oversee true love couldn’t keep up? What if there simply were not enough Guardians? What if they recruited certain souls as they crossed over to serve humanity covertly as a new type of immortal, sworn to protect and serve, to not interfere with free will, and to get the couples together that should be together?

What are you working on?
I recently co-authored a cupid novella for the anthology Cupid Gone Wild (a non-A.N.G.E.L. story, although there is some similarity between Cupid and my creatures!) with fabulous Delle Jacobs, called THE BOSS WORE RED. It's a story about a big-city girl thrown together with a cowboy in a very unusual twist with Cupid monitoring the "situation".

The A.N.G.E.L. series took a back seat for a little while but now they are front-and-center again. The funny thing about paranormal critters is that sometimes they want a little adjustment, so the series is in modification. *grin* I hope to have them available to the public around the end of the year.

The Boss Wore Red by Delle Jacobs and SamMarie Ashe

For city fashionista Alexandria Bergstrom, there's nothing worse than learning her crazy parents' past unless it's having to re-live it herself on the ranch she's inherited. It's the worst possible time for her heart to tumble, especially for hunky, city-hating ranch manager Clint Riordan. But does her heart listen? That's what Cupids are for...

THE BOSS WORE RED is available from: eTreasuresPublishing.com, Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, Smashwords.com, and AllRomanceeBooks.com, available as a single title novella or in the anthology “Cupid Gone Wild”.
