Things Happen!

I've had company and my husband who told me all week he had the flu started coughing up blood on Sunday and we found out at the ER he had pneumonia! So my computer time has been limited most of this week, entertaining my cute little granddaughters and making sure my "never sick" husband behaves himself and does as little as possible.

I attended the Reader's Luncheon on Saturday with my good friend and #1 Fan. On our drive home, after she schmoozed with other authors, my friend said, "You should write mysteries." We discussed two mysteries I wrote before finding out about RWA and deciding romance was my thing and that I loved westerns. I told her the plot to the first one and she suggested I give it a romantic twist and try submitting it to agents and editors. When I was reluctant, she said, "Paty, you can write anything if you set your mind to it."

So you guessed it. Once I finish Outlaw in Petticoats, I'll drag out the old mystery I wrote and see if there is anything salvageable in it. I've already started rehashing the story some in my head and rethinking it - knowing the romance which was minimal will need to be taken up a notch and woven in more.

Now I'll have to keep myself in the Petticoat book while I'm working through the mystery in my head!

Are you a good multi-tasker? Not just things like cleaning house, watching kids, and reading a book all at the same time, but mind multi-tasking - Like writing one book, plotting another, and rehashing another?

I think women are born multi taskers, especially those of us who are writers.

Hope the dh is getting better and behaving himself.

Get going on those mysteries woman, I agree you can write anything you put your mind to!
