What a weekend! I spent Saturday by myself while my dh attended an auction out of town. I wrote, watched West Side Story (I've never watched it before), and watched the Olympics.
Have you seen West Side Story? I don't know what I had expected, but it was a bit odd at times. I enjoyed the love story except for the end. I'm an Happy-ever-after girl all the way. And I found the tomboy character distracting. Some of the scenes were very dramatic and well done while others felt farcical. If you've watched it what are your thoughts on the movie?
I fell in love with Apollo Ohno all over again. There's just something about him that makes me smile.
Sunday, I presented my dh with a card, his favorite candy, and a western movie. I got- a kiss and "Happy Valentine's Day". I spent the morning editing and the afternoon helping him move, sort, and feed cattle. Then we moved water troughs, salt licks, and a drug a dead cow out of the field. Then I made dinner and watched Olympics. As a romance writer I feel like writing my own Valentine's Day story, but I guess even though I've told him every year if you even just gave me a card I would at least know you put some thought into the day. Oh well.
Hope you all had a great Valentine's Day!

I've never seen West Side Story, not that I remember anyway. But I'm not a huge movie person, I'd rather read a book.
I'm not a huge Valentine's Day person, either. I'd prefer to believe Valentine's Day is everyday. DH and I went out Saturday so we wouldn't have to fight the crowds yesterday. SO yesterday, he went to a friends to watch the NASCAR race, and since I wanted to write, I stayed home and watched it. The kids all stopped by, so I didn't get much writing done, but for me, it was a perfect day.
Men! Mine surprised me but he kind of "owed" me after forgetting my birthday in November and buying me frying pans for Christmas. (They are nice frying pans, and I did need them, but sheesh, I didn't buy him underwear, you know?)
I love Apollo, too. Speedskating has been my favorite part of the Olympics since Eric Heiden stole my heart back in 1980, LOL.
I haven't watched West Side Story in a long time--I find Natalie Wood annoying even as far back as he Miracle on 34th Street days, LOL.
Sounds like Valentine's Day at our house when we were farming. Hey, at least you got the kiss. Maybe that's why I write romance, too. It is also my daughter's birthday, so that may be part of the reason my husband never remembers Valentine's Day. Although, he never remembers the kids birthdays either.
Lauri, It sounds like your weekend was kind of like mine in terms of getting anything written. LOL
Nic, LOL on all counts.
Kathy, My dh never knows when it's a child's birthday either! He only remembers mine because my daughter's remind him.
Ah, the Olympics. I fell in love with Shaun White as he worked his magic with the snowboard. What a great kid with a winning smile.
Enjoyed your post.
