Special Introduction- The Book Breeze

My friend Donna Keihle is starting a new endeavor in the writing world. Today she's here to tell us about it.

What is The Book Breeze?
A reader targeted newspaper that celebrates the written word with articles, short stories, contests, and regular features like Behind the Book, Writer’s Cave and Writer’s Challenge. It’s an entertaining, informative, multi-genre publication that is designed to rejoice in the adventure and discovery that awaits us in books.
Authors and book sellers have always worked together to draw the reader, The Book Breeze wants to strengthen the bond between book seller, author, and reader.

How did you come up with the idea?
As a writer, I understand the promotional challenges writers face. As a small business owner, I understand the difficulties competing with larger companies and changing trends. As a reader, I’m always looking for something good to read.
Somehow all this collided with my eclectic work background, and I came up with the idea of a newspaper but I wondered if I was off the mark going for a print publication instead of jumping into the digital world. Then I read Seth Godin’s blog A Little Out of Sync (#521/Aug 28,2010).
“People who are way out of sync with the digital maelstrom of the moment aren't always bad followers. They might be great leaders.”
That gave me just the push I needed to pursuit my inspiration.

Tell us more about what we can expect from The Book Breeze.

• Articles that celebrate the written word, for instance, the importance of the industrial revolution, the dime novel and literacy or how writing opened doors for woman.
• Short stories that provide us with a brief respite in our day.
• Maggie Jaimeson gives us a look at the inspiration Behind the Book.
• A peek into the possibly sane world of a writer with the Writer’s Cave.
• Book seller’s recommendations.
• New releases.
• Contests and puzzles and prizes. Oh, my!

Where can we find The Book Breeze?

Our first issue comes out in April and will be available in independent bookstores and libraries primarily in Oregon but that’s just a starting point. We want to be nationwide. The April issue will also be at the Romantic Times Convention and the Heart of Dixie Readers’ Luncheon.

Congratulations, I can hardly wait to see the first edition of The Book Breeze!
April seems so far away, but I know it will be here before we know it.

I really appreciate all the good wishes. It's a very exciting time. I'm just beginning to gather the bookstores that will carry The Book Breeze. The website will have that information. There's still time to participate with the Writer's Challenge - you can win a $10 gift certificate. I'm also still accepting short stories.
