Hi, and thank you, Paty Jager, for having me here today. This
anthology, A COWBOY TO KEEP, Contemporary Western Romance Collection, has been
a fun project. It is a privilege to work with this group of talented authors
and I’ve enjoyed getting to know them and their work. I think readers will love
this collection of contemporary western romances.
Ideas for our stories can come from anywhere. Sometimes, it’s
a character, the town where the story will take place, or an event or inciting
incident. Oftentimes, with me, it’s a weather event, as has happened in my
historicals. This one was a little different.
About a year ago, I received a phone call from my brother, not
unusual since we talk a few times a week, but this time he said, “Hey, Sis, I
have an idea for a book.” He gave me his thoughts for the plot, I wrote them
all down, and began to think. I worked on the story for a few months, stopping
every once in a while, to ask him what he thought about this or that.
He was always receptive to my ideas, but finally said, “Sis, I
think what you have is great. I didn’t go this far in my thinking with romance
and conversations and such. I don’t write books, I write songs. You might say
I’m a three-minute man.”
Well, may I just say, he’s started the seed for a future book
with that statement and he’s on tap for writing that song for me!
Anyway, that’s how THE LEGEND OF BAD MOON RISING Came to be
written. I love these characters, Dinah Horne and Ben Hammond and hope you do
too.
Blurb:
THE LEGEND OF BAD MOON

danger of losing herself. Leaving her friends and family for Dallas, Texas,

Ben Hammond is sheriff of the small community of McTiernan,
Texas. Once he’s over the woman who stole his heart and shattered it, he
decides to buy the Hard Luck Ranch and settle down. Problem is, odd things are
happening that may be tied to the previous owners. As he begins his
investigation into the past, he is faced with an even bigger problem—the
reappearance of Dinah Horne.

Carra Copelin is an award
winning and Amazon Best Selling Author in contemporary and historical romances
but, unlike so many other authors, didn't write from childhood or read long
into the night beneath the covers with a flashlight. She found romance novels
as an adult. After reading about a million, she discovered numerous people
residing in her head, all looking for a way onto the printed page.
She's a member of Romance
Writers of America and she regularly contributes to romance blog, Smart Girls
Read Romance. She is a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution and
The Daughters of the Republic of Texas.
Carra and her hero live in
North Central Texas, in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex where they enjoy family
and their three beautiful grandchildren.

Paty, thanks so much for having A Cowboy to Keep here today. Carra, interesting post about where you got your idea for your story! Who knew? It was great working with you.
Three minute man! I love that! You sound like you have a special relationship with your brother. It's always interesting to hear how writers get their ideas for stories. Carra, I second your thoughts: this was a fun project to work on. I certainly I have enjoyed meeting you! Happy writing!
Carra,
Loved your story! And I agree, ideas can come from the oddest places. How nice to have help from your brother. This anthology has been great fun. And thanks to Paty for letting us share. :-) Happy 4th!!
Thanks Patti, Andrea, and Kristy for you comments, encouragement and support. My brother and I do have a special relationship. He is a hippie biker from the late 60's and 70's with the nickname of Gunner, and there is some of his personality in Moon.
A huge thanks to Paty, and a Happy 4th, too, for featuring our collection of western contemporary romances, "A Cowboy to Keep." I think you will love the lead story, "The Legend of Bad Moon Rising," taken loosely from a real-life incident in the 1970's. I enjoyed this story a lot, loved to try and guess who the bad guys were. Bet you can't guess who did it! And Carra's brother, a song writer, definitely needs to do a song about this one, even if the song is only 3 minutes!
