Help with Felines

I don't know why I did it, but I've added a cat- calico to be exact to my Christmas Novella. And I'm not a huge fan of cats and haven't had that many around. Now while this cat is only going to play a miner role- I brought it in as company and to keep the storage room where the heroine is staying mouse free- I want to make sure I give it proper cat qualities.

So I'd love to hear comments on specific cat traits you think would enhance my cat. I'm thinking it's going to be a female and produce kittens on Christmas Eve- but that's about as far as I've thought about gender.

Cats allow people to live with them, not the other way around. They are independent, and in charge, at all times. My kitty was 24 when he died, and never once did he let me forget who was the boss. He was a seal point (tan not black) siamese with baby blue eyes. I still miss him, but am not interested in ever having another cat. He was the perfect house cat and it wouldn't be fair to compare another one to him.

I'm so not a cat person, so I'm afraid I can't help you. Though I did just finish a lion shifter story...probably not what you're looking for, LOL.

I have a cat and she attacks all my children's friends. She gets jealous if they're spending time with someone other than her. Most visitors to our house call her the demon cat. She's very possessive of her 'kids.'
She also likes to have the high ground. She perches at the top of the stairs where she can hear and see everything going on in the house.
